About The Artist
I am a Canadian artist living in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. This valley has long been my home and I remain beguiled by its arid beauty and variation. My painting process is predominately intuitive and I enjoy drawing and experimenting with various materials. Acrylic paints are usually the basis for my work, but water media, inks, oil pastels, oil sticks, graphite, charcoal and collage might be used as well. I love to draw and to experiment with materials.
I also like to push boundaries with my subject matter. Rural imagery that may include horses, cattle and birds are depicted in a contemporary manner. The intersection and nuances of land, weather and animals predominate in my work and I often incorporate random script such as words or bits of poetry that may enhance a sense of narrative. Marks and marking, unexpected compositions. All are important to me and with each new piece I try to find an elusive balance between accuracy and abstraction.
My artwork is available at White Rock Gallery and I am also a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
